Personalization

STEP 1: What can be embroidered?

A drawing, a sentence, a word, a design...
Here are some practical and useful tips for successful embroidery:
What you need to remember is: a felt-tip pen, a white background, a photo taken flat, and you're almost done!

1. Felt-tip pen drawings are best!

Felt-tip pens are the preferred tool for successful embroidery. They offer contrast and sharpness, allowing for a faithful reproduction of your design. To avoid losing any detail, we advise against using colored pencil or watercolor drawings (color gradients are not achievable in embroidery).

Please note:

Personalization only applies to handmade creations (words, names, drawings, phrases, etc.). We do not embroider photos.

The following types of drawings cannot be embroidered:

  • Overly complex scribbles
  • Drawings with stickers
  • Paint gradients (or watercolor)
  • Dotted lines
  • Thread overlaps cause needle breakage

  • The stickers cannot be reproduced in embroidery

  • Paint or watercolor gradients are not reproducible in embroidery

  • The dots are too small to be reproduced in embroidery

2. The medium matters!

A drawing on a white sheet of paper is ideal!

Drawings on white paper provide a better render. Avoid dark colored sheets. If the paper is gridded, we will of course only keep the lines of your drawing.

In general, prefer light, plain backgrounds.

  • Drawing on white background (optimal)

3. Submit good quality images

To digitize your drawing well, you have 2 options:

- Take a photo of it: place your drawing flat, in good lighting to accurately capture the true colors.

Make sure:

  • There are no shadows, as this affects color readability.
  • The photo is not blurry.
  • The photo is not taken at an angle to avoid distorting the drawing's proportions.
  • The photo of the artwork is large enough for us to embroider all the details.

- Scan it: (ensure that the colors are true to the drawing when submitting, as threads will be chosen based on the perceived colors)

In both cases, ensure that the scan resolution is of good quality.

STEP 2: Customize your hoodie!

1) Embroidery size: Small or large?

At L'ENFANTIN, you can choose the format and placement of your embroidery according to your design's size:

- Small, on the heart (10cm maximum)

OR

- Large, on the chest (20cm maximum)

  • Small embroidery on the chest

  • Embroidery done large, centered on the chest

Beyond style and your personal preferences, it's important to note that the format will determine the legibility of your embroidery:

  • For a "dense" design with a lot of details, opt for "large embroidery," centered on the chest. The details will be much more legible.
  • For a "sparse" design, you can choose either "large, centered on the chest" or "small on the heart"; this will simply be a matter of style.

Feel free to browse the examples presented on our website to get an idea of the final look.

Of course, our team will always try to adapt to your wishes.

  • Dense drawing

  • Light drawing

2) The thread: Matte or shiny?

Just like with a photographer, you can choose the finish of your embroidery!

The matte thread range offers genuine modernity to embroidery, a raw and complete look, it is the reflection of felt par excellence!

The glitter range is the shiny option we love! However, the embroidery time is twice as long because the thread is more fragile.

All our embroideries are made with OEKO-TEX certified threads.

3) The Collector Label

Behind every design is a story!

As important as the design itself, we developed the collector label to feature the artist's name, the date of the drawing, and its caption.

For readability, the number of characters is limited to a maximum of 20.

It is printed and then sewn to the bottom of your sweatshirt.

It is optional; you can also check the box "without collector label."
